I’m actually impressed this time around. I always find it curious in these Ayla Asher romance stories, how she’ll manage to introduce these characters and build their romance.
I found the way their relationship evolved in this story to be believable. It felt it was well-paced, which I personally find rare in romance novels. It has the obligatory drama for the sake of drama I’ve cum to expect from these stories. It really felt pointless, as a single conversation between two reasonable adults could have cleared it, so it felt as always, tacked on and unnecessary.
I always find it stupid how much people emphasize having “biological” children for no other reason than “genetics tell me to pass on my genes”. All it ever tells me is that parents only care about their kids because they share the same DNA, and not because they care about them as a person or because they just like kids. While that was somewhat addressed at the end of the story, it might have been nice if it was addressed sooner. I kept hoping it would be brought up and used as a bonding moment between the characters.
Both of the narrators did a fine job as always. They play off of each other well and it’s always a treat to have dual narrators as well. There weren’t any issues with the audio, everything was top-notch.
