Starting Over is short and sweet. I think it’s a little too short to properly get invested. It ends just as things get interesting. There’s drama and heartbreak, revelations, and all that you’d expect, but it lacks room to breathe and get you invested in the story.

This narration is horrible. The narrator reads everything in the same boring, lifeless, dull tone of voice. Little to no effort was put into character voices and few, if any natural pauses were done during dialogue. It sounds like she’s in a hurry to get through it and is attempting to put as little effort in as humanly possible. I nearly DNF’ed the story, and I would have, had I not received a review copy of book 2. The only, and I mean only reason I didn’t abandon it was because of how mercifully short it was at 2x speed. Even then, I still wanted to quit.

Note: This audiobook was provided to me as a complimentary audiobook to go alongside my review copy of book 2. The opinions stated in this review are mine, and mine alone. I was not requested to give this novella a certain rating, suggestion, or approval.
