On its own, I don’t see that this story has anything of value to offer. I didn’t know it was part of a series until I was nearly done with it, so maybe that was part of the problem. Overall, it was alright, but not something I think I’ll remember or ever recommend. It’s all bread, and no meat. A bunch of witches sitting around, showing off and discussing the men they shrank, and discussing business does not make for a compelling or interesting story. It’s a filler sandwich, and my guess is the 3 stories in this series should have been a single book.

One other instance of “Abdomen” being referred to as “Stomach”. Your stomach is an internal organ, if a character was stabbed in the stomach, or has their hands on their stomach, they’re beyond fucked. Nobody ever refers to a character resting their hands on their lungs instead of their chest, because that would be idiotic and absurd.

I take issue with the narration on some levels. “Acrosst” isn’t a fucking word, and I can’t stand it when narrators add letters to words during their narration. It’s fucking distracting. It’s clear that Ruan Willow was enjoying herself while narrating and tried to put some effort into the character voices, which is more than I can say for most narrators. But overall, it did get hard to focus at times due to how “samey” everything sounded.
